Māori and Pasifika Trades Training involves polytechnics, industry training organisations, support organisations, and industry. All these organisations will work together to stand behind you and support you.
We'll be there every step of the way and connect you to the heart of building, construction, infrastructure and supporting jobs.
If you are serious about secure employment in the trades, are Māori or Pasifika, and aged between 16 and 40, sign up for Māori and Pasifika Trades Training.
You'll also need to meet the entry criteria for the course you want to do, but we can help you with that.
Trades training is flexible. You can:
The way you go will depend on what you have done before.
A pre-trades course at a polytech gives you hands-on experience and theory, and at the same time prepares you for life on the job. If you take up this option and you qualify, you can study for free – and we will help you find work when you finish.
Going straight into an apprenticeship means you're more ready for working life and are happy to study while you work. We can help you make that decision. If you choose this option, then you need to find that first job and apprenticeship. But come and talk to us first – we might just know someone who needs you.
The government is paying for 3,000 Māori and Pasifika people to gain qualifications and apprenticeships, and help them into employment. We were chosen to deliver 494 of those placements in 2015.
Register with us to make sure you're the first to hear about the opportunities in trades training.
