Kia orana – it’s Cook Islands Language Week from July 30, and the theme is: `Ei rāvenga nāku i te tuatua i tōku reo Māori Kūki ’Āirani ka anoano au i te turuturu ā tōku ngutu`are tangata `ē te matakeinanga’; An encouraging home and community environment is what I need to build my love and my confidence to speak my reo Māori Kūki ’Āirani.

At MPTT, those same principles apply to our trainees. We aim to provide an encouraging and supportive MPTT community to help trainees get ready for work and build a sustained career in the trades. This month we share the support our trainees have received to enable them to travel to Samoa for a Habitat for Humanity build. We also share the story of Jerome Ramsay, a trainee who made some big changes in his attitude to life. Jerome, who is Cook Island Māori is now reaping the rewards.
